Earnest and soulful, emerging Victorian Country artist Dakota East travels both on a lonesome mountain dirt road and an inner-city street.
Growing up in a log cabin on a small island in the middle of a lake in Ontario Canada, Dakota East’s childhood was very much influenced by music from the likes of folk singers Neil Young, James Taylor and John Denver, along with B B King and Bonnie Raitt.
“The music married with the scenery so well and was the perfect soundtrack to my childhood,” says Dakota East.
Now based in Melbourne Australia, Dakota has already played shows at some of Victoria’s most loved music venues while opening for local music legends such as Jon Stevens, Travis Collins and Wendy Matthews, plus Jo Camilleri and The Black Sorrows.
Her debut release ‘Runaway’ in 2021 has achieved over 300,000 streams so far, while also being a Top 20 Australian Country Radio single!
Recorded between Melbourne and Nashville, ‘Feel It’ follows on from the sonic style of the first single, with reverb-drenched pedal steel guitar, shimmering electric guitars and lush production.
‘Feel It’ centres around the idea of fully embracing life’s special moments when they are presented to you.
“All of life is one chance. I have to take it. I can’t sit with complacency thinking that people, places or connections will last forever. Nothing will,” says Dakota East.
In summing up her purpose musically, Dakota says…
“The essence of pure, raw and unrefined musical emotion has always stayed strong within me and is what I try to evoke as an artist.”
